Stoops liked Pac-10 possibility

Reviewing the tape, I came across this thought from Oklahoma Coach Bob Stoops, who was warming up to the idea of playing in the same Pac-10 Conference as his brother. Mike Stoops is Arizona’s coach.

“He was hoping for North, South divisions,” Bob Stoops said. “He wasn’t really excited about having us and Texas in the same division.

“He was like I was, and don’t take this wrong, kind of excited about it. Just a different opportunity. Again, I’m very excited about where we are now.”

Bob Stoops finds it ironic the Big 12 with 10 teams will operate the way the Pac-10 and Big Ten has, without a football championship game, and like the Pac-10 with complete round-robin scheduling.

“Now the shoes on the other foot,” Stoops said. “In the end, we’re still a strong product.”

Oh, and Stoops doesn't want a piece of the 2004 national championship now that Southern California has vacated the Orange Bowl triumph from that season over the Sooners that gave the Trojans the title.

"I'm not much for claiming anything if didn't happen on the field," Stoops said.
