Saunders Makes U.S. Rugby Team
Tommy Saunders is on his way to Australia - and then Hong Kong - as part of the U.S. Rugby National Team.
The former Missouri wide receiver - who worked his way up from walkon to starter out of Kearney High School - had tried out and been cut by four NFL teams.
Then former MU teammate Tony Temple told Saunders he wanted him to meet a rugby coach in Kansas City. That, in turn, led to attention by the coach of the U.S. National team, the Eagles.
And all this past week Saunders spent in San Diego in a tryout for that team.
Friday morning, Saunders found out he'd made the team.
