Aldrich says he's still undecided about pro future
On Wednesday night, as Kansas fans chanted "One more year!" to junior center Cole Aldrich, KU coach Bill Self cautioned the crowd "Don't hold your breath on that one."
By saying that, Self relieved Aldrich of any pressure to return for his senior season. But Aldrich said Friday that he has not made any decision about whether to leave KU a year early.
"I still don't know what I'm going to do," Aldrich said. "I'm just trying to play ball. Whether it is my last year or not, I'm just trying to make it the most fun I can have."
Aldrich, a consensus lottery pick in NBA mock drafts, says he plans to follow the same process he used last season in determining whether to stay or go.
"I'm going to do the same thing Sherron (Collins) and I did at the end of the year," Aldrich said, "and see where things are and just kind of assess them."

Much like Collins and Aldrich basically thought, "I'll stay if YOU stay", Henry and Aldrich should do the same. Henry did NOT have the year everyone expected, and really needs at least one more year to develop. And Aldrich was never a "one and done" guy anyway, improving all three years. He risks only a career-ending injury, or an extremely bad year for his NBA stock to go down. But he is the type that would most likely have a better year next year (since much of the early part of this year was less than stellar), especially if he has a strong supporting cast, including Henry. And, with both coming back, Kansas would be one of the favorites to contend for a national championship again. So, other than waiting another year to make (maybe even MORE) millions, aside from the risk of injury, Aldrich has little to lose in staying another year.
As a KU fan I think I would actually feel guilty if he stayed. I am grateful that he stayed to play this year, but I think he has earned the right to leave a year early.
No reason to feel guilty, unless it seemed that Self talked him into staying. Which Self, like Roy Williams, would never do.
If he stays, I think most KU fans will feel fortunate to have him back.
Almost everyone, including me, thinks he will leave.
