Self: KU knows Texas-type slump
Bill Self paged through the history book to dismiss Texas’ recent woes of four losses in the last six games.
“Whenever you’re ranked as high as Texas, people can start reading things into it way too much,” Self said Monday during the Big 12 coaches teleconference. “We won the national championship and lost three out of five games. These things happen.”
Another history reminder from Self: His 2005 team started 10-0 in Big 12 play, lost four of final six and wound up tied for the conference title.
NOT MUCH PREP TIME
Tonight marks the first of three straight weeks that Kansas plays a Saturday home game followed by a Big Monday spot. Self said wouldn’t have drawn it up that way because of the one-day prep, but he likes the rewards.
“It’s great exposure, and you’ll never hear us complain about being on Big Monday,” Self said. “At the end of the day maybe it makes us a little tougher and harder.”
