COLUMBIA - Even with Missouri’s Jarrell Harrison guilty of pass interference, Iowa State’s Darius Darks caught a 38-yard touchdown pass with 26 seconds left in the first half.
At the break, with the smallest crowd of the season at Mizzou’s Memorial Stadium, Iowa State leads 17-10.
So far it has not been a day for either defense.
Iowa State’s Alexander Robinson has rushed nine times for 32 yards, caught four passes for 39 more and even has thrown a 10-yard half-back option pass for a touchdown.
ISU quarterback Austen Arnaud is 16 of 22 passing for 170 yards, with one interception but also the late TD pass.
For Missouri, Derrick Washington has 62 yards on 11 rushes. Blaine Gabbert has hit 12 of 18 passes for 123 yards. And, Danario Alexander has caught five passes for 56 yards to become Missouri’s single season record holder with 1,294 yards receiving.
Still, the mood is not a happy one at Faurot Field, where Missouri is in danger of finishing 0-4 in Big 12 Conference play.

Missouri smelled out a fake field goal by Iowa State on the second play of the second quarter. Sean Weatherspoon and Will Ebner tackled the ISU holder short of the first down when he tried to run it.

But Missouri couldn't really make the Cyclones pay. On third and one from the ISU 34, MU's most penalized offensive lineman - Austin Wuebbels - was flagged for a false start. On the next play, Blaine Gabbert was tackled for a six-yard loss.

Not to be outdone, on ISU's next possession the referee blamed an ISU false start on the "entire offensive line."

Now that was just plain frustrating. Missouri drives the ball 14 plays for 75 yards. Danario Alexander sets the MU single season receiving yards record.

Missouri has a first and goal at the Iowa State. And has to settle for a 20-yard Grant Ressell field goal.

Still, up 10-7 the at the end of the first quarter.

This one could be a shootout. After a first-possession stops for both defenses, the offenses look as if they will rule the day.

When are the PA people at Missouri going to learn NOT to play the Bells of Doom when an opponent faces a third down?

They did it with Iowa State coming out of a time out and facing third and 10 at the Iowa State 27. Missouri got pressure on QB Austen Arnaud. But Arnaud got the pass off for a 23-yard complete.

And then Iowa State punched and passed its way easily down field to tied the game 7-7, ISU wideout Jake Williams out-fighting Kevin Rutland in the end zone for the 10-yard scoring pass.

On Missouri's second play of its second possession, Blaine Gabbert hit Danario Alexander with a 17-yard pass. That puts Alexander only 6 yards short of surpassing Jeremy Alexander's single-season Mizzou record of 1,260 yards receiving.

Missouri jumped on top 7-0 with 9:31 left in the first quarter on Derrick Washington's 3-yard rush. The drive began with Kevin Rutland's interception at the Iowa State 45.

Who received the biggest cheer from the fans at the pre-game introductions at Mizzou's Senior Day?

Hard to tell. Jaron Baston, Kurtis
Gregory, Danario Alexander and Sean Weatherspoon all drew loud response from the crowd just moments ago.

If you have to pick a winner, go with the "SPOOOOOOOOOOOON!" that floated out of the stands onto Faurot Field.
