Alexander's Most Impressive Play
What was the most impressive thing Danario Alexander did on the way to a 10-catch, 200-yard receiving day at Kansas State?
Perhaps not taking a 54-yard touchdown pass out of the hands of a defender. Perhaps not the fade pattern for a 16-yard score. Perhaps not even the 80-yard TD on which he simply ran away from the entire state of Kansas.
No, the most impressive play out of Alexander was a simple little eight-yard pass on third and seven in the fourth quarter, a play on which Alexander appeared stopped two yards short of the first down but got it on second effort despite his helmet being ripped off his head.
As obvious as that trait is in Weatherspoon, to teammates and coaches it never shone brighter in Alexander than in a fourth-quarter play at Kansas State that wound up with Alexander still fighting for yards after his helmet had been ripped from his head.
“That showed the heart that he had,” said teammate Derrick Washington said. “His helmet came off and he’s still pumping for extra yards.
"When you’ve got somebody out there playing like that, you know you’ve got to go out there and play for him.”
