Bruised Bone In Foot Will Keep Tiller out of at Least Next Game

COLUMBIA - J.T. Tiller - his left foot in a walking cast to prevent irritation of a bone bruise - will not play in Missouri's next basketball game, Sunday against Texas-Pan Ammerican at Mizzou Arena.
Tiller, according to an announcement by MU associate director of sports medicine Pat Beckmann, will remain in the walking cast for four days and then be evaluated as to his availability for a Nov. 24 home game against Chattanooga.
Tiller suffered the injury on Tuesday night early in the second half of Missouri's season-opening victory over Tennessee-Martin. X-rays taken Tuesday night showed no structural damage and an MRI on Wedndesday confirmed that.
"J.T. is the heart and soul of our basketball team," MU Coach Mike Anderson said.
The senior guard - a nominee for the Wooden Award given to the nation's top player - can still be that, even if he cannot play in either of the next two games or games in the South Padre Island Invitational next week.
Missouri - 31-7 last season - is a much deeper team now than two seasons previously when forward DeMarre Carroll tried to play through an ankle injury his junior season that wound up severely limiting Carroll's ability to get up for rebounds.
