Pinkel Pushes Big Honors for Super 'Nario

Danario Alexander’s selection again as the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday gave Missouri Coach Gary Pinkel a chance to stump for league offensive player of the year honors - and something else - for senior wide receiver.
“His numbers speak for themselves,” Pinkel said. “Also, without question, his name should be up for All-American honors.”
Alexander caught 10 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns in Missouri’s 38-12 triumph at Kansas State on Saturday.
He now has 81 catches for 1,238 yards and 11 touchdowns. His average of 123.8 yards receiving is third best in the nation, as are his TD catches, and he is tied for fifth in the country with 8.1 receptions per game.
Missouri has a recent history of All-American receivers and tight ends, including Martin Rucker, Chase Coffman and Jeremy Maclin (twice) within the previous two seasons.
However, Alexander on Saturday became the first player in MU history to total 200 or more yards receiving in back to back games.
“His confidence level just keeps growing higher and higher and higher,” Pinkel said of Alexander.
Alexander also won Big 12 weekly honors for Sept. 28 - along with Iowa State running back Alexander Robinson. Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert won the opening week of the season.
