Stein Says Mizzou's Women's Hoop Season Is Not About Her
If the season unfolds as Big 12 Coaches have predicted in a last-place finish for the Tigers, Cindy Stein's last day as the Missouri basketball coach could be April 30, 2010.
That is the day Stein's contract runs out. But she said Wednesday - at the Big 12 Conference women's basketball media day in Kansas City - she doesn't want the season to be about her future.
"Our players all realize the situation I'm in contractually," Stein said. "We don't hide it in recruiting, we don't hide it with the team. It's out there and I want them to understand it.
"But yet I don't want that to be their focus."
Stein won't be asking her players to win one for Cindy.
"It shouldn't ever be like that," she said. "That would be totally selfish on my part.
"I believe in this team, so I really have no worries. I'm probably the most relaxed I've been in 12 years at Mizzou."
