Right move for Bradford?

In Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma medical staff we trust. The Sooners wouldn't have announced Sam Bradford as the starting quarterback for Saturday’s home game against Baylor unless the program was certain Bradford wasn’t risking further injury to the shoulder sprain he suffered in the opener.

Right?

Yes, the stakes for the Sooners are high. With two losses, Oklahoma is all but out of the national championship picture, but the South Division and Big 12 titles remain up for grabs. Those possibilities would have taken a serious hit if Bradford had been unable to play in next week’s showdown with Texas.

The stakes for Bradford are higher. As he was after last season, he’s a potential top NFL Draft choice. Perhaps it was with his future in mind that he participated in a news conference with reporters earlier this week that raised as many questions as it answered.

Bradford didn’t rule out surgery as a possibility, and it’s been troubling that Bradford has missed longer than the 2-4 week window announced a few days after the injury.

But all along wanted to get back on the field, and the Baylor game allows last year’s Heisman Trophy winner to get back to game speed. He’ll be known as “Slingin” Sam again for his throwing and not the arm brace.
