A look at Texas Tech's Brandon Carter
Brandon Carter has made quite the name for himself with his massive size and skill on Texas Tech's offensive line.
K-State coach Bill Snyder went out of his way to mention Carter's 6-foot-7, 344 pound frame this week, calling him "really big." After allowing zero sacks last season, Carter was named an All-American by the Sporting News and the senior is one of the most imposing linemen K-State will face all season.
He is also one of the strangest.
For starters, Carter likes to paint his face before games so he looks like professional wrestler Mankind (aka Mick Foley). He also recently made news for mysteriously being stripped of his captain status and suspended from the team following a tough loss to Houston.
Texas newspapers later reported that Carter was disciplined for smashing his helmet and loudly criticizing the Red Raiders' coaching staff.
But he's back with the team now. Coach Mike Leach hasn't elaborated as to why, saying only that Carter was reinstated on this week's Big 12 teleconference.
So K-State will have its hands full trying to pressure the quarterback in Lubbock this weekend. Not that the Wildcats wouldn't have anyway.
They are yet to record a sack against a FBS opponent, and Carter is hardly the only big lineman at Texas Tech. The average Red Raiders offensive lineman stands 6-foot-6 and weighs nearly 320 pounds.
Still, Carter has a way of standing out.
