Exploring the Rankings for Mizzou and Nebraska; and updated depth chart
COLUMBIA - Voters jumped Missouri back into the Associated Press Poll at No. 24 on Sunday while the Tigers vaulted all the way to No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
And that sets up - no matter which poll you put more credence in - a battle of ranked foes in Columbia on Thursday night between the 4-0 Tigers and the 3-1 Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Nebraska is ranked No. 21 in the A.P. poll and No. 22 in the Coaches Poll.
The A.P. Poll voting is a matter of public record, and interestingly, or not, the lone A.P. voter from the state of Nebraska did not rank Missouri at all and the lone A.P. voter from the state of Missouri did not rank Nebraska at all.
Rich Kaipust of the Omaha World-Herald ranked Nebraska No. 20 while ignoring Missouri.
Dave Matter of the Columbia Daily Tribune ranked Missouri No. 19 while ignoring Nebraska.
Sixteen A.P. voters ranked Nebraska from No. 9 to No. 23 while not voting for Missouri.
Eight A.P. voters ranked Missouri from No. 13 to No. 23 while not voting for Nebraska.
Thirty-one A.P. voters ranked both Missouri and Nebraska.
Adam Van Brimmer of the Savannah (Ga.) Morning News ranked Missouri the highest at No. 11.
Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News ranked Nebraska the highest at No. 9.
Kansas - the other team generally acknowledged to be a Big 12 North Division contender -is No. 16 in the A.P. rankings and No. 15 in the Coaches Poll.
JONES BACK AT NO. 1 - Andrew Jones is back at No. 1 at tight end on the Missouri depth chart released Sunday. Beau Brinkley, who supplanted Jones for the Nevada game, stays at tight end at No. 2. Michael Egnew, moved to wide out for Nevada, remains No. 2 behing Wes Kemp.
Also, De'Vion Moore - finally fully back from a high ankle sprain - is at No. 2 behind Derrick Washington at tailback. But with the catch he made at Nevada, don't expect No. 3 TB Kendial Lawrence to drop out of the playing rotation.
On defense, Jarrell Harrison and Kenji Jackson are listed either/or to start at strong safety and Jasper Simmons and Hardy Ricks are in the same situation at free safety.
Only Munior Prince, cornerback and kick returner, is listed as questionable for the Nebraska game with a hamstring.
