Boehm re-ups with Mizzou football

By Mike DeArmond - Posted on 21 December 2011

Evan Boehm knows there are people out there who won’t trust his recommitment on Wednesday to play football at Missouri next fall.

The No. 4-ranked offensive guard in the national class of 2012 chose Missouri once before, after all, back in June. Said he always wanted to be a Tiger. Then in November reopened his recruiting, taking a visit that reportedly went well to Auburn.

But Boehm – a 6-3, 290-pound four-star recruit out of Lee’s Summit West – told The Star on Wednesday evening there was no reason Mizzou should feel once bitten, twice shy about him.

“People think I’ll decomit again,” Boehm said, “but that won’t happen.

“I made the right decision the first time.”

So why did Boehm waffle?

“I wasn’t feeling that good for a while,” he
said. “I talked to my parents and decided to back out and see if that feeling came back.

“I wanted to take my visit and see what Auburn had in store. I went down there and I enjoyed myself a lot.”

But Missouri was never out of the running. And when Boehm took his official visit to Missouri as part of a big recruiting weekend two weeks ago the Twitter-verse was hopping with MU player contentions that Boehm would ultimately be a Tiger.

Being hooked on a feeling is really the best explanation Boehm provided for his hello, goodbye and hello again.

“I wanted to see what other options I had,” he said. “I checked it out and the feeling came back. I feel I made the right decision the first time.”
