Hoch Could Return for MU by Weekend
Dan Hoch’s days on the Missouri sidelines with a sprained MCL in his left knee could be over by the weekend.
But even if that is too early, MU Coach Gary Pinkel left no doubt - in addressing the media after Tuesday’s practice - the sophomore starting offensive right tackle will have a full week of preparation for MU’s season opener against Illinois.
“It'd be nice to get him back for one of those,” Pinkel said of drills on Saturday and Sunday. We might not get him back until Tuesday.”
Hoch’s anticipated return for MU’s Sept. 5 game against the Illini in St. Louis should allow senior Kurtis Gregory to go back to his right guard slot.
With Gregory and Hoch shoulder to shoulder, Missouri’s running game excelled in the first scrimmage of August.
The running game sputtered with Hoch on the sidelines in the second scrimmage. Scrimmage No. 3 comes up Thursday afternoon.

I think the talent on this team is being overlooked, and I don't think that's a bad thing. Adds a little fuel to the fire that's building in Columbia. The closer we get to the season, the more I'm thinking we are going to have a very good team this year.
I know we have a new QB which will be a big factor, but I think Gabbert is the next in line to continue the great QB play that we have been so fortunate to have over the last 5 years or so. Corby, Brad, Chase, and now Gabbert can continue the upward trend I believe. I think the running game will help take some pressure off of the offense as well as our defense.
Tired of talking about it, and can't wait for the trip to Stl next weeked!
